Working Week Action - Thursday

Posted on

Thursday was the last full working day of the week with the volunteers from far afield having a day off on Friday to sample the local attractions before returning home on Saturday.

Thursday also saw a visit of a reporter from the local paper to assess our achievements, so  lets review what has been achieved.

The Signal Cabin

On Monday there was an empty hole in the platform. This is now filled and above ground, with the lever sub-frame installed, floor joists positioned and the main frame of the building erected.

Platform 1 Track

A 20 ft track panel was laid and ballasted, followed by a buffer stop aligned and installed.

The team's efforts resulted in the buffer stop being lifted from the car park and dropped into place on the track bed, ballasted and connected to the existing track

Not to be forgotten is the small team that beavered away at the west end of the platform clearing the underpass and surrounding area of moss, vegetation and other detritus, a thankless and often back breaking job.

The view on the right shows only one small area that they cleaned.
